* system/cpus: rename qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() to bql_lock()Stefan Hajnoczi2024-01-081-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Big QEMU Lock (BQL) has many names and they are confusing. The actual QemuMutex variable is called qemu_global_mutex but it's commonly referred to as the BQL in discussions and some code comments. The locking APIs, however, are called qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() and qemu_mutex_unlock_iothread(). The "iothread" name is historic and comes from when the main thread was split into into KVM vcpu threads and the "iothread" (now called the main loop thread). I have contributed to the confusion myself by introducing a separate --object iothread, a separate concept unrelated to the BQL. The "iothread" name is no longer appropriate for the BQL. Rename the locking APIs to: - void bql_lock(void) - void bql_unlock(void) - bool bql_locked(void) There are more APIs with "iothread" in their names. Subsequent patches will rename them. There are also comments and documentation that will be updated in later patches. * hw/sparc*: Move cpu_check_irqs() to target/sparc/Philippe Mathieu-Daudé2021-05-041-0/+66
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since cpu_check_irqs() doesn't reference to anything outside of CPUSPARCState, it better belongs to the architectural code in target/, rather than the hardware specific code in hw/. Note: while we moved the trace events, we don't rename them. Remark: this allows us to build the leon3 machine stand alone, fixing this link failure (because cpu_check_irqs is defined in hw/sparc/sun4m.c which is only built when CONFIG_SUN4M is selected): /usr/bin/ld: target_sparc_win_helper.c.o: in function `cpu_put_psr': target/sparc/win_helper.c:91: undefined reference to `cpu_check_irqs' Suggested-by: Richard Henderson <richard.henderson@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Philippe Mathieu-Daudé <f4bug@amsat.org> Reviewed-by: Mark Cave-Ayland <mark.cave-ayland@ilande.co.uk> Reviewed-by: Richard Henderson <richard.henderson@linaro.org> Message-Id: <20210428141655.387430-5-f4bug@amsat.org> Signed-off-by: Mark Cave-Ayland <mark.cave-ayland@ilande.co.uk>
* linux-user/sparc: Handle tstate in sparc64_get/set_context()Peter Maydell2020-12-181-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Correctly implement save/restore of the tstate field in sparc64_get_context() and sparc64_set_context(): * Don't use the CWP value from the guest in set_context * Construct and save a tstate value rather than leaving it as zero in get_context To do this we factor out the "calculate TSTATE value from CPU state" code from sparc_cpu_do_interrupt() into its own sparc64_tstate() function; that in turn requires us to move some of the function prototypes out from inside a CPU_NO_IO_DEFS ifdef guard. * sparc/sparc64: grab BQL before calling cpu_check_irqsAlex Bennée2017-03-091-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | IRQ modification is part of device emulation and should be done while the BQL is held to prevent races when MTTCG is enabled. This adds assertions in the hw emulation layer and wraps the calls from helpers in the BQL. * Move target-* CPU file into a target/ folderThomas Huth2016-12-201-0/+205
We've currently got 18 architectures in QEMU, and thus 18 target-xxx folders in the root folder of the QEMU source tree. More architectures (e.g. RISC-V, AVR) are likely to be included soon, too, so the main folder of the QEMU sources slowly gets quite overcrowded with the target-xxx folders. To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx folders into a dedicated target/ folder, so that target-xxx/ simply becomes target/xxx/ instead.
