This bug is related to ARM based processor emulation and has been fixed in Linaro QEMU(qemu-linaro). You can install qemu-linaro to solve the problem. This can be confirmed with the following link(Point 6) : http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/03/08/instructions-to-run-raspberry-pi-fedora-14-remix-in-qemu/

It's probably also fixed in upstream qemu master since I haven't deliberately put anything in to qemu-linaro to fix it -- we've almost certainly just picked up the fix from upstream.

Incidentally "-M versatilepb -cpu arm1136-r2" is veering slightly into "unsupported" territory, since there's no such thing as a VersatilePB board with an 1136 CPU in the real world. And did you really want arm1136-r2? That's an r0p2, whereas "arm1136" is the newer r1pX which is probably what the RPi is actually using. (Yes, qemu's names for these two CPU types are hopelessly confusing. Sorry.)

Hi Peter,
many thanks for the update, I'll give it another shot with later binaries and a more accurate CPU :-)

Thanks again,

ARM: When 'virsh dump' exports vmcore, specifies --format compression format, virtual machine assert hangs
Description of problem:
**ARM: virsh dump exports vmcore, specifies --format compression format, virtual machine assert hangs**

**why 'virsh dump' page size configured as target page size (64KiB), but 'Implement kvm-steal-time' page size configured as host page size (4KB)?**
Steps to reproduce:
The vm image page size is configured as 64KiB, and the host page size is configured as 4KiB

1.start vm

2.Execute the virsh dump command to export vmcore

Specify the compression format of vmcore, --format (kdump-zlib, kdump-snappy, kdump-lzo)

/usr/bin/virsh dump avocado-vt-vm1 /var/tmp/vm.core --memory-only --format kdump-zlib

/usr/bin/virsh dump avocado-vt-vm1 /var/tmp/vm.core --memory-only --format kdump-lzo

/usr/bin/virsh dump avocado-vt-vm1 /var/tmp/vm.core --memory-only --format kdump-snappy

**expected results**: The vmcore file is successfully exported and the virtual machine is running normally.

**actual results**: The vmcore file is not exported normally, and the virtual machine is shut down abnormally.
Additional information:
qemu log:

![image](/uploads/aa73fc306ff19d6da4ff86fba6860d94/image.png)

The code for the error assert exit is shown above. Here, it will check whether the memory to be dumped is actually aligned with the termination address. It needs to be aligned with the page size of the virtual machine. You can see through gdb that it is 64KiB.

qemu-m68k: python runtime failures, "The futex facility returned an unexpected error code."
Description of problem:
The python interpreter (both Python 3.9 and Python 3.10) crashes during a rebuild of Python itself (fairly reproducible but not always at the same point of the build; using MAKEOPTS=-j1 or running under high system load decreases the probability, as does using the qemu -systrace switch). The output is
```
The futex facility returned an unexpected error code.
```

Digging into glibc sources, this error together with an abort occurs when the return value of a futex call is not in a short list of allowed values, see ``nptl/futex-internal.c`` and ``sysdeps/nptl/futex-internal.h``.

Running qemu with QEMU_STRACE=1 decreases the probability of the error greatly, but after some attempts I was able to get a log. Several threads seem to write at the same time, leading to rather garbled output, but my interpretation is an error value of "Invalid argument".
