* Remove the remainders of the Avocado testsThomas Huth2025-04-233-687/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Now that all Avocado tests have been converted to or been replaced by other functional tests, we can delete the remainders of the Avocado tests from the QEMU source tree. * tests/functional: Convert the SMMU test to the functional frameworkThomas Huth2025-04-231-139/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This test was using cloudinit and a "dnf install" command in the guest to exercise the NIC with SMMU enabled. Since we don't have the cloudinit stuff in the functional framework and we should not rely on having access to external networks (once our ASSETs have been cached), we rather boot into the initrd first, manually mount the root disk and then use the check_http_download() function from the functional framework here instead for testing whether the network works as expected. Unfortunately, there seems to be a small race when using the files from Fedora 33: To enter the initrd shell, we have to send a "return" once. But it does not seem to work if we send it too early. Using a sleep(0.2) makes it work reliably for me, but to make it even more unlikely to trigger this situation, let's better limit the Fedora 33 tests to only run with KVM. Finally, while we're at it, we also add some lines for testing writes to the hard disk, as we already do it in the test_intel_iommu test. * tests/functional: Use the tuxrun kernel for the aarch64 replay testThomas Huth2025-04-231-160/+0

* tests/avocado: Remove the boot_linux.py testsThomas Huth2025-04-231-132/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These tests are based on the cloudinit functions from Avocado. The cloudinit is very, very slow compared to our other tests, so most of these Avocado tests have either been disabled by default with a decorator, or have been marked to only run with KVM. We won't include this sluggish cloudinit stuff in the functional framework, and we've already got plenty of other tests there that check pretty much the same things, so let's simply get rid of these old tests now. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The test checks some entries in /proc and the output of some commands ... we put these checks into exportable functions now so that they can be reused more easily. Additionally the linux_ssh_mips_malta.py uses SSH to test the networking of the guest. Since we don't have a SSH module in the functional framework yet, let's use the check_http_download() function here instead. And while we're at it, also switch the NIC to e1000 now to get some more test coverage, since the "pcnet" device is already tested in the test test_mips_malta_cpio. Reviewed-by: Daniel P. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | test_x86_64_pc in tests/avocado/boot_linux_console.py only checks whether the kernel parameters have correctly been passed to the kernel in the guest by looking for them in the console output of the guest. * tests/functional: Convert the intel_iommu avocado testThomas Huth2024-12-171-122/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert the intel_iommu test to the new functional framework. This test needs some changes since we neither support the old 'LinuxTest' class in the functional framework yet, nor a way to use SSH for running commands in the guest. So we now directly download a Fedora kernel and initrd and set up the serial console for executing the commands and for looking for the results. Instead of configuring the cloud image via cloud-init, we now simply mount the file system manually from an initrd rescue shell. While the old test was exercising the network with a "dnf install" command (which is not the best option for the CI since this depends on third party servers), the new code is now setting up a little HTTP server in the guest and transfers a file from the guest to the host instead. The test should now run much faster and more reliable (since we don't depend on the third party servers for "dnf install" anymore), so we can also drop the @skipUnless decorator now. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Drop the SSH connection which was introduced in the avocado tests to workaround read issues when interacting with console. EXTRA_BOOTARGS was introduced to reduce the console output at Linux boot time. This didn't have the desired effect as we still had issues when trying to match patterns on the console and we had to use the ssh connection as a workaround. While at it, remove the U-Boot EXTRA_BOOTARGS variable which has become useless. * | tests/avocado/hotplug_blk: Fix addr in device_add commandKevin Wolf2024-11-251-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | pci_devfn properties accept both integer and string values, but integer 1 and string '1' have different meanings: The integer value means device 0, function 1 whereas the string value '1' is short for '1.0' and means device 1, function 0. This test wants the string version so that the device actually becomes visible for the guest. device_add hides the problem because it goes through QemuOpts, which turns all properties into strings - this is a QEMU bug that we want to fix, but that cancelled out the bug in this test. Fix the test first so that device_add can be fixed afterwards.
